Aquila Enters the Sailing Market with a New Catamaran Line
CLEARWATER, FL – September 12, 2025 – Aquila, best known for its power catamarans, is making a decisive move into sailing with the launch of three new models: the 44ES, 50ES, and 63ES. The step marks a new chapter for the brand as it combines its reputation for engineering with the sailing experience of a veteran design team.
The new line carries Aquila’s signature features, including bridge-to-bow access and sleek, modern styling. A fixed forward cockpit transforms unused deck space into a social hub, while each cabin is designed with private entrances, ensuite facilities, and generous natural light. Comfort is further enhanced by panoramic salon windows and Aquila’s optional tender crane.
Technology plays a central role. The Hybrid Ocean Drive™ system, offered across the range, integrates electric and diesel propulsion to allow silent maneuvering in harbors and efficient cruising offshore. Developed as part of the design from day one, it reflects the company’s push toward more sustainable sailing.
Production takes place at Sino Eagle’s advanced facility, where infusion-molded hulls, CFD and FEA engineering, and CE Category A certification ensure strength and safety for ocean passages.
The project is led by industry veterans including Jean and Lex Raas, J&J Design, and executives with experience at Beneteau, Lagoon, and Moorings. Distribution in the Americas will be handled by The Catamaran Company.
The 44ES, 50ES, and 63ES will debut at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2025, with the first full-size model scheduled to appear at the Miami Boat Show in 2026.
After facing tough competition from notable models like the Jeanneau DB37, Makai M37, and Parker Sorrento, the Fairline Targa 40 has emerged victorious at the 2025 Motorboat of the Year Awards, held in Düsseldorf on the 21nd of January 2025.
J&J designed the hull and is responsible for naval architecture and GRP structural engineering.
